Oude Kaap Reserve Shiraz 2020
Grapes originate from various vineyards across the Western Cape, with the main purpose of producing a consistent, expressive style. Suckering, leaf removal and crop control are performed to ensure premium quality fruit with good concentration.
Fermented on the skins for around 7 days at 24-28°C until dry. After pressing, the young wine was treated with American oak staves and allowed to complete malolactic fermentation. A further 3 months of wood maturation follows before bottling for good integration. This gentle use of oak gives the wine excellent drinkability and a lingering freshness
An easy-going Shiraz with soft, silky tannins allowing immediate accessibility yet potential to develop further complexity for up to 5 years.
Grilled fillet, rump or sirloin, roasted red meat with rich gravy, oxtail, lamb shanks and matured full-flavoured cheese.
